He felt like his life was past the point of no return because no one would hire him because he had done too many bad things and had too many bad marks on his record.

There is a point of no return. for example, once you say something on the internet. it stays on the internet and never goes away. posting that certain thing would put you past the point of no return

Second chances

seconds chances are a good thing. They give a person the ability to make up for what they did the first time. There has been a time where I was given a second chance. I failed a test and my teacher let me retake it.

What Wes means is that because they way he looks, people assume that he is poor and will not be able to afford the treatment. They are judging him only on how he looks and where he lives.

I have been misjudged based on my appearance because I am Chinese. Someone asked if I was Chinese and I told them yes, then they proceeded to ask me to help with Spanish homework, and I've never taken Spanish.
